At Channel Ventures (www.channelventures.com) we recently looked at major trends in the channel. One trend is the consolidation of traditional reseller programs with ISV programs. Instead of being a completely different program, ISVs are now becoming a segment of the larger channel. This has big implications for ISVs in terms of support, MDF and visibility. Other trends are the increase in alliance marketing, an active VC market, declining margins and the use of mixed business models that tie services to the software.
